Lunt-Fontanne Theatre
All your animated friends spring to life with “Beauty and the Beast” tickets, which is performed at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Located at 205 W. 46th St., the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre was originally built as The Globe in 1910. The Depression brought bankruptcy and this Broadway theater became a movie house in 1933. In 1958, the old theater was completely renovated to become Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The opening night audience was filled with stars of the stage and screen. Lunt-Fontanne Theatre was renamed for the actors Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne who married and performed together in 27 different productions. Fontanne had made her 1916 Broadway debut at this Broadway theater. Among the stars that have graced the stage at Lunt-Fontanne Theatre are Fanny Brice, Fred Astaire, W.C. Fields, Sid Caesar, Hume Cronyn, Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, and Glenn Close.
In 1959, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Sound of Music” opened and began a 1,443-performance run. “Sound of Music” and Mary Martin both won Tony Awards. Sandy Duncan reprised “Peter Pan” at Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in 1979. Carol Channing played in “Hello Dolly” at Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in 1978 and again in 1995. Currently, your family can’t miss with “Beauty and the Beast” tickets. “Beauty and the Beast” welcomes children of all ages.
