Xcel Energy Center Stadium

Lovingly referred to by Minnesota Wild fans simply as "The X," Xcel Energy Center is on six acres in downtown Saint Paul on the former site of the Saint Paul Civic Center Arena. Owned by the city of Saint Paul and operated by the Saint Paul Arena Company, Xcel Energy Arena cost $130 million. Built in 2000, Xcel Energy Center is part of the RiverCentre Convention Center Complex which includes the adjacent Roy Wilkins Auditorium. Xcel Energy, Inc. paid $3 million a year for 25 years for the naming rights.

In addition to hosting the home games of the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League, Xcel Energy Center hosts over 140 various events throughout the year. Such events include circuses, conventions, family shows, ice shows, and sporting events such as basketball, hockey, tennis, and wrestling. Disney on Ice, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Prince, and The Who are only a few of the acts who have been through Xcel Energy Arena.

Four separate concourses, four seating levels, and a press level make up Xcel Energy Center. For NHL games, the Xcel Energy Arena seats 18,064. Fans visiting Xcel Energy Arena experience state of the art technology, including 360-degree video boards, an electronic display system, and advanced in-arena production. Xcel Energy also features superior acoustics and a transparent glass exterior.

Since the Minnesota Wild first began playing in Xcel Energy Arena in 2000, every Minnesota Wild home game has been sold out. Xcel Energy Arena tickets have always been in high demand, no matter what event is at Xcel Energy Arena at that time. A Minnesota record crowd of 19,398 filled the Xcel Energy Center to see the Minnesota Wild take on the Calgary Flames in the 2005-06 season opener.
