Honda Center of Anaheim

Honda Center of Anaheim is home to Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League and the Anaheim Storm of the National Lacrosse League.

When the NHL awarded Anaheim with an NHL team, Anaheim needed a new arena. Ground broke on Honda Center in June 1991. Honda Center first opened two years later. The cost of building Honda center was $123 million and HOK Sport was responsible for the architecture. Owned by the city of Anaheim, Honda Center was financed mainly through city-issued bonds. Honda Center paid $15 million for 10-year naming rights when the arena first opened.

Honda Center seats 17,174 for hockey. In their first season at Honda Center, almost 700,000 people visited Honda Center to see Anaheim Ducks. Since hosting the Stanley Cup Finals in 2003, Ducks of Anaheim tickets at Honda Center have consistently been in high demand. Since it first opened, Honda Center has attracted almost 18 million visitors.

The 650,000-square-foot Honda Center also hosts the annual John R. Wooden Classic. Other events at Honda Center each year include various sports, concerts, and family shows. Annual events include Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Disney on Ice, and the Harlem Globetrotters. Honda Center used to serve as a second home of the Los Angeles Clippers, from 1994-98.

The first NHL game at Honda Center featured Ducks of Anaheim hosting the Detroit Red Wings on October 8, 1993. Other high- profile events at Honda Center include the Stanley Cup Finals in 2003, WrestleMania XII, Paul McCartney, and U2.
