TD Banknorth Garden Stadium

Formerly known as the Fleet Center, TD Banknorth Garden is home to the National Basketball Association's Boston Celtics and the National Hockey League's Boston Bruins. Located in the West End Neighborhood of Boston, TD Banknorth Garden was built to replace the historic Boston Garden. TD Banknorth Garden is located in one of the largest sports markets in the country.

Construction of TD Banknorth Garden cost $160 million and took almost two and half years. Ellerbe Becket was responsible for the architecture. Fleet Bank paid $30 million for 15-year naming rights beginning in 1995, but when time ran out TD Banknorth bought the naming rights in March. From the beginning of 2005, until a deal for a new sponsor was reached, there was an online auction through eBay where naming rights were auctioned off daily to the public. Each day for one month, the Fleet Center went by a different name until a new deal was reached. Including Fleet Center and TD Banknorth Garden, the building has held 33 names.

Since it first opened on September 30, 1995, TD Banknorth Garden has hosted a variety of events, not just Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins games. TD Banknorth Garden has a maximum capacity of 19,600; TD Banknorth Garden seats 18,854 for basketball games and 17,565 for hockey games.

TD Banknorth Garden is utilized as a year-round facility. Concerts, special events, and family shows have all been held at TD Banknorth Garden. More than 200 events each year yield over three millions guests each year at TD Banknorth Garden. Events and performances that have passed through TD Banknorth Garden include Disney on Ice, Manheim Steamroller, Rolling Stones, U2, and various WWE events.

The first NHL game at TD Banknorth Garden took place October 7, 1995, when the New York Islanders visited the Boston Bruins. In 1996, the NHL All-Star Game was played at TD Banknorth Garden. Some of the other events that have been hosted at TD Banknorth Garden include the NCAA Hockey Championship and WrestleMania XIV, both in 1998, the 2000 U.S. Olympic Gymnastic Trials, and the first and second rounds of the 2003 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. The 2004 Democratic National Convention was also held at TD Banknorth Garden.
