What began as the Kansas City Scoundrels in 1974, were the Colorado Rockies in 1976 and would officially become the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils in 1982. The New Jersey Devils' home ice is at Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, and their team colors are red, black, and white. Currently playing in the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division, the New Jersey Devils have won three Stanley Cups (1995, 2000, and 2003), while narrowly missing a fourth in 2001.

The Atlantic Division of the NHL features five teams, beginning with the New Jersey Devils who play their home games at Continental Airlines Arena. Out of New York, the New York Islanders and New York Rangers play in Nassau Colisem and Madison Square Garden, respectively. The Philadelphia Flyers face off at Wachovia Center as the Pittsburgh Penguins do at Mellon Arena.
