Super Bowl XLI erupted in beautiful Miami on February 4, 2007 at Dolphin Stadium and saw the Chicago Bears face of against the Indianapolis Colts. Peyton Manning finally silenced his critics by winning the big game against the rival New England Patriots to get the Indianapolis Colts to the Super Bowl. On the other side of the ball, the top seeded Chicago Bears went on to defy their critics with an impressive victory over the New Orleans Saints to advance to Miami as well. This historic match-up pitted two best friends and respective head coaches Tony Dungy and Lovie Smith head-to-head on the greatest stage in sports. With a high powered offense going up against a team built around its strong defensive presence on the field, Super Bowl XLI had all the makings of a classic match up.

Super Bowl XLI started off with a bang as the Bears Devin Hester returned the game's opening kickoff over ninety yards to score the first touchdown. The Bears would score once more on a red zone touchdown pass thrown by Rex Grossman to Muhsin Muhammad in the first half. After three Adam Vinetarri field goals, Peyton Manning met a wide open Rodney Harrison for a 56 yard touchdown pass to take the Colts into halftime with a 16-14 lead. The second half belonged to the Colts though, as Rex Grossman through an interception for a touchdown and the Bear's defense could not get Peyton Manning and the Colts offense off the field. The time of possession battle was dominated by the Colts and Bears sealed their fate on Grossman's second interception of the game late into the fourth quarter. The Colts finished the game winning 29-17.

With a Super Bowl victory complete, Peyton Manning and Tony Dungy sealed their NFL fates as both finally won the big game. After being criticized most of the regular season, in the end it was the Colt's defense that came up big throughout the playoffs and ultimately brought a World Championship to Indianapolis. In a year filled with criticism and skepticism, the Indianapolis Colts silenced their critics and came out on top as World Champions.
