Kansas City Chiefs | Arrowhead Tickets |

What makes Arrowhead Stadium consistently sell out for 15 years? Is it the fans that drive the Kansas City Chiefs to a remarkably consistent victory record at home or does the Kansas City Chiefs hometown winning streak drive explosive sales at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri? Whatever the explanation, the combination of the Kansas City Chiefs playing at Arrowhead Stadium is a time-tested recipe for success. Since 1992, no NFL team has a better regular-season home winning percentage than the Kansas City Chiefs.
Rated one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL, Arrowhead Stadium is home to the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League and Major League Soccer's Kansas City Wizards. Located at 1 Arrowhead Dr., it is part of the city's Truman Sports Complex, together with the Kansas City Royals' home, Kauffman Stadium. When it was opened in 1972, the two-stadium complex concept was the first of its kind. And its forward-thinking design has stood the test of time. With a capacity of 79,451 seats, its $43-million dollar construction cost sounds ridiculously inexpensive compared to today's stadium budgets.
Changing plans have been a part of Arrowhead Stadium's story from the start. Originally designed with a domed roof, the rolling stadium roof was eliminated due to costs, delays, and design concerns. A JumboTron was added in 1991. In 1994 Arrowhead Stadium installed a grass playing surface replacing the artificial turf originally in place. The idea of a roof was revisited in 1984 but again discarded as impractical and financially prohibitive.
Recently a roof concept was visited yet again when on Nov. 16, 2005, the NFL awarded the city of Kansas City and Arrowhead Stadium the Super Bowl for a date between 2012 through 2021. The NFL stipulates that the plan is contingent upon raising as much as $500 million for improvements to the facility. Improvement plans include a roof, an enclosure to go around the stadium for climate control, and general upgrades. Kansas City Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt is credited as the man who gave the Super Bowl championship its name.
