New York Giants
The New York Giants were one of five teams that joined the NFL in 1925. During their history, the New York Giants have won four NFL Championship Games and two Super Bowls. Their last Super Bowl victory was in 1990, and their most recent Super Bowl appearance came a decade later, in 2000 when they lost to the Baltimore Ravens. The last time the New York Giants were in the NFL Playoffs was in 2002, when they lost the NFC Wild Card Playoff game to the San Francisco 49ers.
In 2004, the New York Giants finished 6-10 for the second-straight losing season. Even with a record well below .500 they still managed to come in second in the NFC East. There was controversy in the middle of the 2004 season when Eli Manning took over for Kurt Warner as starting quarterback. While the change did not have that much of an impact on the rest of the New York Giants 2004 season, it set the stage for the 2005 season. Should there be a New York Giants NFL Playoffs appearance in 2005, it would mark only the fourth time in the last 10 seasons that they have made it to the NFL Playoffs.
As the rest of the 2005 NFL season continues, the New York Giants have their eyes on the NFC East title. The last time the New York Giants won the NFC East, they made it all the way through the NFL Playoffs and into the Super Bowl. Even though they fell short of a Super Bowl victory, the New York Giants head into the rest of the 2005 NFL season hoping to win the NFC East and make another Super Bowl appearance just like they did six seasons ago.
