Cincinnati Bengals
Just four short seasons ago the Cincinnati Bengals finished in the basement of the AFC North Division with a 2-14 record. One season later, in 2003, the Cincinnati Bengals placed second in the AFC North with an 8-8 record. In 2004 the Cincinnati Bengals also finished 8-8, but wound up third in the AFC North. Now, as the 2005 Cincinnati Bengals NFL football season continues, the Cincinnati Bengals find themselves in the hunt for a spot in the NFL Playoffs.
The Cincinnati Bengals first started playing in the AFL before moving to the NFL in 1970. Since they began playing in the NFL, the Cincinnati Bengals have made the NFL Playoffs only seven times. Included in those seven Cincinnati Bengals NFL Playoff appearances are two trips to the Super Bowl, one in 1981 and another in 1988, but neither time resulted in a Super Bowl victory for the Cincinnati Bengals. The last time the Cincinnati Bengals made the NFL Playoffs was in 1990 when they won the AFC Central Division title.
In 2005, the Cincinnati Bengals are battling for a first place finish in the AFC North Division. Should they finish in first, it would be their first divisional title in 15 seasons and first since the AFC Central became the AFC North. Powered by the play of Chad Johnson and Carson Palmer, the Cincinnati Bengals look forward to closing out the 2005 NFL season on a high note by qualifying for the NFL Playoffs. Whether they win the AFC North title, or make it to the NFL Playoffs by winning an AFC Wild Card spot, there is hope for the team to finish the season strong and make a run toward Cincinnati Bengals NFL Playoff appearance.
