Washington Huskies Mens Basketball
The University of Washington is associated more with football than basketball, but that may change this year. The Washington Huskies finished at the bottom of the Pac-10 in football, but the Huskies basketball team is slowly rising to the top. In 2003-04, they had a moderately successful season, even though they lost to UAB in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Returning most of their players from last year, the Huskies are ready to build towards something special in 2005.
The trio of guards, Nate Robinson, Will Conroy and Brandon Roy will be ready to lead the Huskies back to the Big Dance. Tre Simmons provides a fourth option, ensuring that no matter who is playing in the frontcourt, Washington can flat-out score. Mike Jensen is UW's tallest player at 6'8", so the Huskies lack size. He and Bobby Jones play taller than their size, but they're going to have to do it game in and game out to take some pressure off the guards.
Washington is going to wear some teams out due to their speed and shooting, but they're going to save themselves some energy thanks to their depth. That will come in handy as the Huskies gear up for the NCAA Tournament.
