Mississippi State Bulldogs Mens Basketball

Mississippi State experienced enormous success during the regular season, going 26-4 overall and 14-2 in the SEC, but it could have ended on a better note. A second-round loss to Xavier ended any hopes of a spot in the Final Four.

The Bulldogs are targeting St. Louis as their goal this year, and with Lawrence Roberts, anything is possible. At 6-9, 235 pounds, Roberts is one of the game's dominating big man. He'll average a double-double over the course of the season, and a 20-10 year is not out of the question. He should be a Top 10 NBA Draft pick when all is said and done. Swingman Winsome Frazier should see his scoring average increase with the departure of point guard Timmy Bowers and his 15 points per game. Mississippi State has seniors at four positions, size in the middle (Seven-footer Marcus Campbell joins Roberts in the pain), which should make sophomore Gary Ervin's job a lot easier.

Given what they accomplished last year, Mississippi State is bound for a high seed in the NCAA Tournament. There's no doubt they have the potential to take care of business and get to the Final Four -- now it's just a matter of doing it.
