Georgia Bulldogs Mens Basketball
The Georgia Bulldogs had a so-so year under Dennis Felton in 2004, finishing just above .500 overall, just below .500 in confrence, and making their way into the NIT. With their top scorers, rebounders, and passers gone, it is difficult to peg where exactly Georgia stands. The good news is, if Georgia has a down year, it shouldn't last long.
With only one senior, the floor is open -- literally -- for somebody to step up and take control. There are a number of possible candidates. Levi Stukes is a talented sophomore guard who can dribble-drive and shoot the three. Sundiata Gaines is a freshman in the same mold as Stukes, but a better passer, and Channing Toney also has the ability to score as one of the team's best three-point shooters. Steve Newman, a 6-foot-8-inch sophomore power forward, and Dave Bliss, a 6-foot-10-inch freshman center, might get pushed around early in the season, but as they get adjusted to SEC play, could produce some big-time performances.
Georgia may miss out on the postseason this year, but if everybody sticks together and at least a handful of the young players realize their potential, they could be tough for anybody in the coming year or two.
