It was up to Scott Drew to return some sanity to the Baylor University basketball program, and that he did. The team won only three conference games and went 8-21 overall, but the main goal of moving the Bears in the right direction was accomplished. Baylor will look for more of the same as it distances itself from the Dave Bliss era.

The Bears have a total of nine new faces on the roster, and Tommy Swanson will have to lead the way. A big man with some touch, Swanson will have to use his 6-foot-10-inch frame to put the ball in the basket. He'll be surrounded by a group of unproven players, but they're not without some promise. This year's recruiting class was ranked as high as 10th by draft analysts. Freshmen Mamadou Diene and Aaron Bruce will bring some international flavor to Waco. Diene, from BLAH, will be a valuable shot-blocker off the bench while he works on his offensive game, while the Australian Bruce, a former Australian Rules Football player, will bring a hardnosed approach to the shooting guard position. JuCo transfer Roscoe Biggers will start at point guard and try to bring the offense together.

It may be another tough year at Baylor, but it won't be without its highlights. As the freshmen grow into productive collegiate players, Baylor fans will realize that success isn't as far off as it seems.
