The Detroit Pistons played home games at six different sites before they settled in at The Palace of Auburn Hills. The Palace of Auburn Hills is also home to the Detroit Shock of the Womens National Basketball Association (WNBA). The facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, cost $70 million to build in 1988 and used entirely private funding. In 1997, "Performance" magazine voted it "Arena of the Year."

The Palace of Auburn Hills has a seating capacity of 22,076. The Detroit Pistons, three-time National Basketball Association (NBA) champions, consistently sell the Palace of Auburn Hills' 180 luxury suites and the venue houses large concerts and a range of events. In fact, approximately 175 events per year make the Palace of Auburn Hills one of the top-grossing facilities of its size. Motley Crue, Coldplay, Britney Spears, B.B. King, and Clint Black are but a few of the performers who have drawn crowds to the Palace of Auburn Hills. The facility has also hosted the Longhorn World Championship Rodeo, Pro Boxing's The Night of The Olympians, and Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. First and second round games of the 2006 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men's Basketball Championship are also planned at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Three teams no longer in existence including the Vipers of the International Hockey League, the Fury of the Arena Football League, and the Continental Indoor Soccer League's Detroit Safari also called The Palace of Auburn Hills home.

Getting There and Getting Around

The Palace of Auburn Hills is located at 4 Championship Dr. Parking is available on site. On certain game days SmartBus runs bus service from downtown Detroit to the game. Area night spots Post Bar and Grill and Hoops also offer shuttles to and from the Palace of Auburn Hills when the Detroit Pistons play in town. Wheelchair assistance is available to take guests to and from their seat. However, guests may not rent or keep wheelchairs for the duration of the event. Assisted Listening Devices are available for use during an event at no charge if you call the Guest Services department beforehand.
