Conseco Fieldhouse may have been built with brick and mortar, but it has roots, and they are definitely homegrown. The home of the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Women's National Basketball Association's (WNBA) Indiana Fever is grounded in years of Indiana basketball tradition. And that memory permeates Conseco Fieldhouse. From the signage to the scoreboard, everything in Indianapolis' Conseco Fieldhouse has a nostalgic feel, including the bathrooms and concession stands. Roll-out bleachers at the south end complete Conseco Fieldhouse's effect.

Though reminiscent of the past, Conseco Fieldhouse was actually built in 1999. Ellerbe Beckett, the Fieldhouse design firm, designed the multipurpose facility to combine modern-day amenities with old-time charm. Conseco Fieldhouse seats 18,345 for basketball and 14,400 for hockey and football. The $183 million Conseco Fieldhouse features 69 luxury suites and 2,400 club seats, and a practice facility. A 14-story tall roof tops off this retro facility. Called, "a cathedral to basketball," by USA Today, Conseco Fieldhouse was one of two sites for the 2002 FIBA Men's World Basketball Championship, held by the International Basketball Federation every four years.

Conseco Fieldhouse has also hosted two boxing title fights and the World Short Course Swimming Championships. A mix of events including John Mellencamp, Luciano Pavarotti, Bill Cosby, Bruce Springsteen, Britney Spears, The Boston Pops, Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, NSYNC, The Dixie Chicks, Crosby Stills, Nash & Young, Disney On Ice, and Kid Rock have also filled the stands at Conseco Fieldhouse.

The Indiana Ice, of the United States Hockey League, a junior league for players who are younger than 21, use Conseco Fieldhouse as home base for a few games each year. Conseco Fieldhouse was also formerly home to the now defunct Indiana Firebirds, one of the longest running franchises in the Arena Football League.

Getting There and Getting Around

Conseco Fieldhouse is at 125 S. Pennsylvania St., just a few blocks from Market Square Arena, the former home of the Indiana Pacers. It offers easy highway access and parking is available surrounding Conseco Fieldhouse. Bus service through Indygo provides an alternative option. Conseco Fieldhouse exceeds ADA requirements. It has wheelchair locations and modified aisle seats. Assisted listening devices are available for events as well as sign language interpreters with two weeks notice. Braille information signage, elevators on the northeast side and some unisex restrooms provide further access to fans at Conseco Fieldhouse.
