The Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association and the Sacramento Monarchs of the Women's National Basketball Association play their home games at Arco Arena in Sacramento, California. Over 200 events occur at Arco Arena each year. Arco Arena has an NBA-wide reputation as one of the loudest arenas in the league, often making it a tough place for opponents to play.

Arco Arena construction broke ground in 1987 and was ready to host events one year later. Construction cost of $40 million for the facility was privately financed. Owned by Kings Arco Arena Ltd. and operated by the Sacramento Kings, Arco Arena was designed by architect Rann Haight. Arco Gasoline renegotiated their agreement with the Sacramento Kings in 1997 to maintain naming rights for an undisclosed amount.

Seating capacity at Arco Arena stands at 17,317 people for basketball games. Included in the seating are 30 luxury suites and 412 club seats. When they first moved into Arco Arena, the Sacramento Kings routinely sold out game after game, and Sacramento Kings tickets are still in high demand. There is seating available for disabled guests throughout the arena. Concession stands and restrooms also accommodate disabled guests.

The first basketball game played at Arco Arena was between the Sacramento Kings and the Seattle SuperSonics on November 8, 1988. Various configuration options allow for events of all kinds to be hosted at Arco Arena. Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Elton John, the Rolling Stones, and Disney on Ice are just a few of what has been seen at Arco Arena. Aerosmith, Coldplay, the Monster Truck Racing, and Stars on Ice are just some of what is scheduled at Arco Arena in 2006.

Getting there and getting around

Arco Arena is located at 1 Sports Parkway in Sacramento. From the north and south, take Interstate 5. When coming from the east and west, take Interstate 80. Accessibility parking can be found in Parking Lot H. General parking is available on the grounds surrounding the area. There is a drop off section available in front of the Arco Arena Box Office.
