Pete Maravich Center/Ford Center

The New Orleans Hornets found a new home in the Ford Center of Oklahoma City for the 2005-06 season. In addition, six of their home games are scheduled to be played at the Pete Maravich Center on the campus of Louisiana State University.

Ford Center

The Ford Center is the premier sports and entertainment venue in Oklahoma City. Three years after construction began the building was finally completed on June 8, 2002. Cost of construction of the Ford Center was $89 million; funding for the project was a result of a temporary one-cent sales tax. The Ford Center is owned by the city of Oklahoma and managed by SMG, who is the leading private facility management company. Ford Motor Company paid for naming rights. Seating capacity at Ford Center stands at 19,599 for basketball games. Included in the capacity are 49 private suites. Accessible seats are located on all levels of the Ford Center.

Getting there and getting around

The Ford Center is located at 100 West Reno in Oklahoma City. Accessed from a number of Interstates, there are a few options of getting to the Ford Center. >From the I-35 it is recommended to exit to I-40. I-40 is an acceptable route from both the east and the west. There are over 900 parking spots available across the street from the Ford Center in an underground parking garage. Throughout the downtown area and Bricktown there is an additional 18,000 spaces available.

Pete Maravich Center

Located on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Pete Maravich Center is scheduled to host six New Orleans Hornets games during the 2005-06 season. The Pete Maravich Center opened in 1971 as the LSU Assembly Center. Shortly following the death of LSU basketball legend Pete Maravich in 1988 the center was renamed. The $11.5 million structure is one of the most visible buildings on campus. Capacity of the Pete Maravich Center is 13,472 people for basketball games after a $5 million renovation to concourse and seating areas.

Getting there and getting around

From the north, south, and east take Interstate 10 to the Dalrymple exit. Follow the Dalrymple exit through the LSU campus onto North Stadium Drive and the Pete Maravich Center is on the right. When coming from the west, take the I-10 across the Mississippi River Bridge to the Nicholson Exit; follow that exit to the LSU Campus. Take a left onto North Stadium Drive and the Pete Maravich Center is on the left.
