Quicken Loans Arena, also known as "The Q," is a true multipurpose arena. It is home to the National Basketball Association's (NBA) Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Barons of the American Hockey League (AHL). Quicken Loans Arena features concert quality acoustics, a full-service production facility, and 562 television monitors located throughout the arena. The downtown Cleveland, Ohio, arena hosts 200 concerts, family shows, and sporting events annually. In 1997 Quicken Loans Arena hosted NBA All-Star Weekend. Quicken Loans Arena is on ice for hockey and figure skating shows. It takes three hours and 434 pieces of subfloor to cover the ice and switch from a hockey rink to a basketball court.

Jacobs Field, home to Major League Baseball's (MLB) Cleveland Indians, together with Quicken Loans Arena, and Gateway Plaza comprise the Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex. Their construction was the first time in history two sports facilities were constructed on the same site simultaneously. Quicken Loans Arena cost $152 million for construction. Its capacity of 20,562 seats includes 92 suites and 2,000 club seats. At The Q, 60 percent of the seats are located in the lower bowl. A 108-foot by 48-foot bay window provides a visual connection from outside to inside the Quicken Loans Arena. The facility's Arenavision gives Cleveland Cavaliers fans play-by-play information at home games including close-up game action and basic statistical information on the players.

To finance Quicken Loans Arena, the city added a tax on alcohol and tobacco. It also sold the naming rights for $14 million to former franchise owner Gordon Gund. In March 2005 a group of investors led by Dan Gilbert, Chairman and Founder of Quicken Loans and Michigan-based home mortgage company Rock Financial, bought the team and naming rights to the stadium, changing the name from Gund Arena to Quicken Loans Arena.
