The Sacramento Kings were the Rochester Royals when they joined the National Basketball Association in 1945. Their name changed four times until they finally settled on Sacramento Kings in 1985. The Sacramento Kings play in ARCO Arena and their team colors are black, purple, and silver. They have won one NBA championship, no conference titles, and five division titles. Notable former players include Mitch Richmond, Oscar Robertson, and Nate Archibald.

In the Western Conference Pacific Division of the NBA there are five teams, four of them from California and one from Arizona. California teams include the Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers, both of who play their home games at Staples Center, the Golden State Warriors, who play theirs at The Oracle, and the Sacramento Kings, who call ARCO Arena home.
