Daytona International Speedway is home of the Daytona 500 since it began in 1959 as well as home to NASCAR, The National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing. NASCAR fans refer to the Daytona 500 as 'The Great American Race.' This is the stock car race that turns men into legends and sometimes cars into scrap. The Daytona 500 pits drivers against each other for 500 miles on the Daytona Superspeedway, a 2.5 mile (4 km) tri-oval race track. Daytona International Speedway has a seating capacity for 168,000 race fans but Daytona 500's estimated attendance is more than 200,000.

NASCAR's competitive racing events begin with the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway.
