The new Busch Stadium offers a level of customization not possible in the St. Louis Cardinals' old Pro Baseball stadium. Unlike its predecessors, the third Busch Stadium is designed specifically for baseball and its advantages are immediately visible. Mainly, the bird-loving fans can see the action better than in the other two Busches. The new Busch Stadium serves a single master from the beginning, so architects from HOK Sport could improve sight lines over the stadiums that were built also with St. Louis Cardinal football in mind. And St. Louis Cardinals fans can also see right into the new Busch stadium from certain points in the surrounding Ballpark Village neighborhood due to the natural slope of the site. From inside Busch Stadium, most spectators will see the Gateway Arch and the downtown St. Louis skyline.

Like its predecessor, the new Busch Stadium has fans seeing red….red seats that is. Busch Stadium will incorporate several elements from the St. Louis Cardinals' previous homes. However, the nine-time world champion St. Louis Cardinals will also gain some enhancements. Busch Stadium's natural grass facility seats 46,000 St. Louis Cardinals fans. It adds standing room areas and group gathering areas that are wheelchair accessible, including one behind home plate. Twice as many women's bathrooms and escalators facilitate traffic flow within Busch Stadium.

Some 60 corporate suites and 45 rentable party rooms help finance the $387-million stadium. The St. Louis Cardinals are one of few baseball franchises that have financed the majority of their own ballpark. Another funding source is Anheuser-Busch, which signed a new 20-year naming rights deal for an undisclosed amount.

When Busch Stadium broke ground in January 2004, St. Louis Cardinals fans could only imagine being a part of the opening game event on April 10, 2006, against the Milwaukee Brewers. The third Busch Stadium was built on the same site as the second while the St. Louis Cardinals completed their 2005 season. The new Busch Stadium was half completed before the Busch Stadium II was destroyed with a wrecking ball. After the old Busch stadium was demolished, its site became part of the new left field. Within a few years the St. Louis Cardinals plan to construct a team museum located in the Ballpark village neighborhood north of Clark St.
