Pittsburgh Pirates Info

The Pittsburgh Pirates began as the Pittsburgh Alleghenies. In the 1890s, the team was known as the Pittsburgh Innocents. By 1912, the name Pittsburgh Pirates was worn on the team's jerseys, but was actually first used in the 1903 World Series. The Pittsburgh Pirates were a part of Pro Baseball's National League since 1887 and were a part of the East Division from 1969 until 1993, until they moved to the National League Central Division. The Pittsburgh Pirates have five World Series titles to their credit, with the first coming in 1909 and the most recent in 1979. Prior to their home field of PNC Park, where they have played since 2001, the Pittsburgh Pirates played in five different ballparks.
