Born 14 August 1960 in Berkhampstead, England, Sarah began ballet classes at the age of three. She also demonstrated an early love of singing. At age thirteen, she debuted in "I and Albert" at the Picadilly Theatre, London. At sixteen, she was a member of the television show "Pan's People". In the late 1970s, Sarah performed as the lead singer in "Hot Gossip" and enjoyed several hit records, including "I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper" which was recently re-released. In 1981, when Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Cats" opened in London, Sarah performed the role of "Jemima". Other roles in musical theatre followed that auspicious debut. In 1986, she premiered the role of Christine Daae in Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera" which opened in London on 9 October. On 26 January, 1988, Sarah made her Broadway debut in "The Phantom of the Opera". Over the next several years, Sarah recorded, and toured, a variety of music, including that of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Benjamin Britain and other composers. In 1993, Sarah returned to her Pop Music roots to record "Dive", a concept CD with a nautical theme. In 1995, she released the CD "Fly". In October, 1997, Sarah's newest album, Time To Say Goodbye had its North American release. In February, this album, a synthesis of her varied musical interests, both popular and classical, went gold in Canada (selling 50,000+ units). Following a broadcast in March 1998 on the Public Broadcasting System of the video recording of her October 1997 concert at Royal Albert Hall. The album has done well in the USA, selling 100,000 units by early April.
