Phoenix Open
The FBR Open celebrates the 71st play of the tournament in 2006, making it one of the oldest events on the PGA Tour. Commonly referred to as "The Greatest Show on Grass," the FBR Open features some of the most historically low scoring golf on the PGA Tour. What originated in 1939 at the Phoenix Country Club as the Phoenix Open has been known as the FBR Open and played at the TPC of Scottsdale since 1987.
In 2005, Arizona native Phil Mickelson won the FBR Open by five shots to for his largest margin of victory. Kevin Na, the youngest player on the PGA Tour the previous year, finished second.
The FBR Open is known for historically low scores. Since 2000, only one round has been finished with a score above 70. Scottsdale is also the site of the lowest four-day total in PGA Tour history.
