"Just because a man lacks the use of his eyes doesn't mean he lacks vision" states Stevie Wonder. Born Steveland Hardaway Judkins on May 13,1950 in Saginaw, MI, Wonder has been blind since infancy. It was his loss of sight that produced a heightened awareness of sound that made him into an American icon as a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. Stevie Wonder became part of the Motown family at the tender age of nine. His 1963 live album,The 12 Year Old Genius, became the label's first chart-topping LP. Before his contract ended at the age of 21, Wonder produced such chart topping hits as "For Once in my Life," "My Cherie Amour" and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours." In addition to renewing his contract with Motown in 1971, Stevie Wonder established his own publishing company, Black Bull Music. Now owning the rights to his music, Wonder was able to follow personal artistic endeavors. Music of Mind came out a year later and boasted an album produced, instrumentalised and written solely by Stevie.

Since he first stepped on to the scene, his influence has impacted contemporary popular music an album at a time. His second Motown era produced such timeless classics as Talking Book,Innervisions and Hotter Than July. Wonder was inducted into the Rock ‘n' Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. A Time to Love is Wonder's most current album, released in 2005 as his first new album in ten years. Stevie Wonder has always appeared at the forefront of social activism, evident by his involvement and tracks such as "Ebony and Ivory" and "Don't Drive Drunk."
