Robin Williams

Born on July 21, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, Robin McLaurim Williams is an American TV, stage and film actor, as well as Comedy Central's 13th Greatest Stand Up Comedians of All Time.

Despite winning an award in high school for "Most Likely To Not Succeed," Robin Williams went on to enjoy a career and life that many actors in general only dream of having. In 1973, Robin Williams was one of twenty students accepted at the prestigious Julliard school of arts. Among his classmates included Christopher Reeve, who was also accepted into the Advanced Program with Robin Williams at the school that same year. It is said that his manic comedy did not impress his teachers, but his dramatic performances gathered everyone's attention...and that was only the beginning.

Robin Williams got his start on television in the 1978 series Mork & Mindy. It was during this time that Robin Williams developed his rapid-fire verbal and physical comedy that he has come to be known by. The show ran from 1978-1982, and Robin Williams became an overnight sensation and a household name. It was also during this time that Robin Williams was starting to cultivate more of his stand-up in HBO specials Off The Wall in 1978, An Evening with Robin Williams in 1982, and Robin Williams: Live at the Met in 1986. His most successful stand-up performance can be seen on his one man show Robin Williams Live on Broadway from 2002.

Another hilarious episode of classic Robin Williams humor came in the form of his appearance on the hit live action comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway? on November 16, 2000. In this episode during the game "Scenes from a Hat," Robin pulled "What Robin Williams is thinking right now." His response was: "I have a career. What the hell am I doing here?"

Robin also has a laundry list of films he has either appeared in or stared in. Most of them have fared extremely well at the box office, with only a couple flukes in the mix. Perhaps one of the most notable of his successes is Mrs. Doubtfire, where Robin Williams plays a father who is separated from his children after a divorce, and dresses up as a nanny in order to spend time with them. Robin Williams also lends his incredible vocal stylings to many cartoon films from Aladdin and Fern Gully to Robots, and even the voice of The Timekeeper, which is a former attraction at the Walt Disney World Resort about a time-traveling robot.

The world of comedy, film, television, and stage wouldn't be the same without the furry, funny, and talented man from Chicago, Illinois. Robin Williams is, by far, one of the greatest men in the history of entertainment. With the announcement of a Robin Williams tour, there is no question that tickets will be selling out quickly. Don't miss out on your chance to enjoy Robin Williams live with Robin Williams tickets today. Robin Williams tickets are on sale now, so don't miss it!
