Marilyn Manson is a industrial rock outfit, that is led by a singer who carries the same name and is based in Hollywood, California. Actually, Marilyn Manson the band was created by Marilyn Manson the man whose real name is Brian Hugh Warner. Brian was born in January 5, 1969, in Canton, Ohio and by the time he was eighteen he had developed creative passions for writing and music. Self-proclaimed "Antichrist Superstar" What was especially drew him even closer to his writing of music was the the freedom of speech/censorship debate. Brian moved to Florida after graduating with a photojournalism major and worked as a part-time music journalist and began to write poems and stories. It was during this time he met up with Scott Mitchell, who at time was a guitarist who had been through five bands and they decided to formed a band in 1989.

They decided to change their names to Marilyn Manson and Daisy Berkowitz. Brian picked his name Marilyn Manson from actress Marilyn Monroe and cult leader Charles Manson. Mitchell became the first member of Brian's band, Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids. The point of the band, for Brian Warner, was to push the limits of American censorship laws. The name of each band member was created by combining the first name of a female pop culture icon and the last name of a serial killer/murderer. The band's lineup has changed several times since its inception, with the exception of Manson himself. The original line-up consisted of part-time journalist Manson (vocals/tape loops), Daisy Berkowitz (guitar), Olivia Newton-Bundy (bass) (who was later replaced by Gidget Gein), and Zsa Zsa Speck (keyboards) (who was later replaced by by Madonna Wayne Gacy), later joined by Sara Lee Lucas (drums). The members of the band dress in often bizarre costumes, and have developed a devoted fan base both for their music and their sometimes shocking behavior. The band began self-releasing cassettes and playing gigs, their Gothic stage show notable for Manson's elaborate make-up and homemade special effects.The band received little attention outside Florida until they were noticed by Nine Inch Nails front man Trent Reznor.

Marilyn Manson's first CD, Portrait of an American Family was released on Reznor's Nothing Records label. Manson's first hit was their version of the Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)," which added eeriness and metallic fury to the song's inherent familiarity. The EP from which it came, Smells Like Children, went platinum, setting the stage for the massive commercial breakthrough (and subsequent Satanic propaganda campaign) of Antichrist Superstar. Musically, their inventive and personal blend of industrial noise, metal guitar, gothic keys and distorted vocals has been somewhat overlooked in favor of their attempts to shock. Manson's lyrics have frequently been called offensive and obscene, and protests and petitions have successfully had the group banned from performing. In 1997, the owner of Calgary's Max Bell Centre had Manson's July 25 show canceled, citing "immorality" and the band's "use of animals on stage." Another concert in Portland was canceled a few days later due to Manson's reputation, and the venue's inability to get insurance for the gig.

That November 6, U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Oversight of Government Management and Restructuring held a public hearing on the effect of violent rock and rap lyrics on kids. Manson supporters claim it was merely another salvo in Joseph Lieberman's declared war on the band. The hearing featured the testimony of Raymond Kuntz, of Burlington, North Dakota, who blamed his son's suicide on Antichrist Superstar, which Lieberman denounced as "vile, hateful, nihilistic and damaging. "Following the Columbine High School massacre, there were accusations that killers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were influenced by Manson's music (along with that of other bands in the gothic/industrial genre), despite statements by both Harris and Klebold that they were not fans of Manson. Marilyn Manson was engaged to Charmed star Rose McGowan from 1998 'til 2001 but the two never married. He ia also an accomplished painter and has sold some of his water colors to Nicholas Cage and Jack Osbourne. He claims the only thing that scares him are shopping malls.

Drums, Tim Skold on Bass Guitar and Mark Chaussee who is the lead guitarist. Manson has also contributed songs to blockbuster movies like The Matrix Reloaded, Bowling for Columbine, From Hell and Resident Evil. Marilyn Manson has also appeared on the big screen in movies like Party Monster and Bowling for Columbine. Manson released "Lest We Forget", a greatest hits album including a cover of "Personal Jesus", a Depeche Mode cover. It also contains a bonus DVD with most of the band's music videos, excluding "Tainted Love" and "(s)AINT". Manson has called this album his "farewell" album.

However, this was the not case as Eat Me, Drink Me was released on June 5, 2007. This album was a Manson and Skold collaboration written, recorded and produced from a rented home-recording studio.
