Green Day

Green Day was formed in 1987, consisting of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool. They were originally part of the punk-rock movement at 924 Gilman Street in Berkley, California during their early days. They are classified under punk rock, pop punk, and alternative rock.

Throughout the years, Green Day has established a name for themselves as one of the leading bands in the punk movement. They have sold over 65 million records worldwide. Other accomplishments include winning three Grammy Awards from Best Alternative Album for Dookie and Best Rock Album for American Idiot to Record of the Year for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams."

The band began in 1987 when Billie Joe and Mike, at 14 years old, formed a band called Sweet Children. At the time, the two only played at a restaurant where Billie Joe's mother was working. Their first show took place on October 17, 1987. They took on a drummer, who later decided that he was interested in heading to college instead. Drummer for The Lookouts, Tre Cool, began to fill in as a temporary replacement. The stars aligned, and everything seemed to be in place for the group. Tre stayed on to keep playing with the band, and the rest is history.

Seven studio albums and numerous worldwide tours later, Green Day has become one of the hottest bands in punk history. Their last album, American Idiot, did extremely well for them, and now they have plans to repeat the process with another possible tour.
