When he was 13 years old, Clapton received his first guitar: a Spanish Hoya guitar. He found it difficult to learn, but he would spend hours at a time perfecting it while listening to the blues artists that he admired during the time.

He had a difficult life as a child. He grew up believing that his real mother was his sister while living with his grandparents who he believed to be his actual parents. At a young age he discovered the truth of the situation and became a distant and self-proclaimed "nasty" child.

During his time at school, he ignored almost everything else to focus on music. At 17 he joined his first band called The Roosters. From there, it was a number of other bands before he broke off to pursue a solo career.

Eric Clapton has been extremely blessed with an incredible ability to play a guitar as if it were an extension of himself.
