Toto formed in the late '70s and had their greatest success in the '80s. David Paich, Seve Lukather, Bobby Kimball, and Steve and Jeff Porcaro joined together in Los Angeles to form the band. Rather than take the club circuit route, Toto went straight to the studio. Their self-titled release would come out in October 1978 and sold 2 million copies. Included on the release was the Top 10 hit "Hold the Line."
While the next two Toto releases did not see that much success, 1982's Toto IV saw "Africa" hit No. 1 and "Rosanna" also hit the charts. The album would go multi-platinum and would earn Toto a Grammy Award for both Album of the Year and Record of the Year, in addition to four other categories, in 1983. The next few years Toto managed to release a number of albums and saw a number of band members come and go.
Toto would release Past to Present, a Greatest Hits album, in 1990. It would go platinum in a number of countries. They would release their first live album, Absolutely Live, in 1993. Toto celebrated their 20th Anniversary in 1997 by putting together old recordings for the 1998 release Toto XX. Toto would celebrate their 25th Anniversary in 2002 with Through the Looking Glass. Toto released a number of other albums throughout their history.
Toto's current line up consists of vocalist Bobby Kimball, keyboardist David Paich, drummer Simon Phillips, guitarist Steve Lukather, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes, and bassist Mike Porcaro. Their most recent release was 2006's Falling in Between.© 2001-2009 BuySellTix.com, All Rights Reserved.
