The Rippingtons Information

Often considered Smooth jazz, The Rippingtons were formed in 1986 by guitarist and band leader Russ Freeman. The early recordings were more jazz/rock. Today smooth jazz sounds spring from this ensemble.

Band members include Russ Freeman (guitar, keyboard, and programming); Dave Karasony (drummer); Bill Heller (pianist); Kim Stone (bassist); Scott Breadman (percussionist); and Eric Marienthal (saxophonist). During their 20-year career The Rippingtons underwent a number of lineup changes. Releasing 16 albums since 1986, the latest offering from The Rippingtons is 2005's Wild Card.
