Temptations Information

American Motown singing group The Temptations formed in 1960. The Temptations' lineup has changed frequently with several members going on to successful solo careers.

As of 2006, after years with Motown, the Temptations continue to perform and record for Universal Records with only one original member, founder Otis Williams, in their lineup. They have a strong link to The Supremes reaching back to their early career. The Temptations sometimes tour with the Four Tops.

"The Way You Do the Things You Do" with Kendricks on lead, became The Temptations' first Top 20 hit. "My Girl" became The Temptations' first No. 1 pop hit in 1965.

Over the course of their career, The Temptations have released four No. 1 pop hit singles and 14 No. 1 R&B hit singles. Their material has earned them three Grammy Awards. With a repertoire that has included doo-wop, soul, psychedelia, funk, disco, R&B, and adult contemporary, The Temptations changed with the times.
