Tanya Tucker Information

Tanya Tucker started out as a child star. Born in 1958 she recorded her first hit, "Delta Dawn," at the age of 13. "Delta Dawn" went to No. 6 on the country music charts. By age 15, she had a Grammy nomination, a "Greatest Hits" package and had appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. She became the second female country music artist to have a number 1 country single as a teenager when she was 15.

Considered the original bad girl of country, she beat Madonna to the bustiers by years. Nicknamed "The Texas Tornado," by her early twenties she was battling alcoholism and cocaine. She overcame those obstacles and went on to a long career and a family.

Earning the Top New Female Vocalist award from the Academy of Country Music in 1972, Tanya Tucker is enjoying a long career. She received the Female Vocalist of the Year award from the Country Music Association in 1991. Her No. 1 hits span from 1973 to 1988, most recently hitting the Top 10 in 1997 with "Little Things." In 1996 she was one of the Top Ten overall most played artists of the year, and Capitol Records biggest selling signed female country artist. Her most recent release was a live album in 2005. Tanya Tucker stars in the 2006 reality show, Welcome to Tuckervilleon The Learning Channel. She had acting credits spanning from 1972 to 1992. She is also an author and the mother of three.
