Switchfoot Information

Formed in 1997 alternative rock band Switchfoot focuses on spiritual and social themes. Jon Foreman (vocals, guitar), Tim Foreman (bass, backing vocals), Chad Butler (drums), Jerome Fontamillas (guitar, keyboard, backing vocals), and Drew Shirley (guitar) make up the band Switchfoot. The San Diego band's name comes from a surfing term.

Originally it was just the Foreman brothers and Butler but the band grew after a few albums and shifted more toward mainstream rock. Heavy involvement in the film A Walk to Remember brought Switchfoot into the spotlight. The Beautiful Letdown, their major label debut, was certified double-platinum, and went on to sell more than 2.5 million copies.

Their most recent release, Nothing Is Sound, was released on September 13, 2005. The album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Despite their Christian rock leanings Switchfoot strives to address spirituality without preaching. Because of this approach they have enjoyed extensive airplay on mainstream radio as well as Christian radio.
