Scott Stapp began his rock career as the lead singer of the band Creed. Prior to joining Creed, Scott Stapp has been studying law at Florida State University. Creed’s debut “My Own Prison” was picked up by Wind-Up Records and remixed to better suit it to radio. “My Own Prison” had a total of four No. 1 singles and Creed was the first band to do so with the first album. Do you mean first with four No. 1 singles on a debut album?) Even with next to no exposure on MTV or in the media, the release quickly sold over five million copies.
The 1999 follow-up “Human Clay” entered the charts at No. 1 and sold over 10 million copies in the first two years. “Weathered”, the third release from Creed, was released in 2001 and entered the charts at No. 1, where it remained for eight weeks. Following the official break up of Creed in 2004, Scott Stapp and the rest of the band went their separate ways. While the other band mates formed the band Alter Bridge, Scott Stapp decided to go the solo route. “The Great Divide” was released in November 2005. While Creed was around for the better part of a decade and sold over 30 million albums with Scott Stapp as the lead singer, his success as a solo artist remains to be seen. His recent tour takes him across the United States in smaller, more intimate venues for the first tour since Creed’s last tour in 2003.
