Roy Linwood Clark was born April 15, 1933 in Meherrin, Virginia. Perhaps best known for being the host of Hee Haw from 1969 through 1992, Roy Clark has also had a successful country music singing career. Roy Clark plays both guitar and banjo, in addition to other various instruments. He began playing those instruments at the age of 14.

In the '60s, Roy Clark appeared on The Beverly Hillbillies and The Tonight Show. Roy Clark released his debut, The Lightning Fingers of Roy Clark in 1962. Once he started releasing albums, Roy Clark had an average of two releases a year.

In the '70s, Roy Clark was a frequent guest-host of The Tonight Show. In addition, 30 million people watched Hee Haw. By 1983, the Roy Clark Celebrity Theatre in Branson, Missouri opened to make Roy Clark the first famous country music star to have his own venue in Branson. Eventually, he would close the venue to make time for touring.

Roy Clark does more than just play instruments and sing; he also has a talent as a comedian and actor, which was evidenced by his participation on Hee Haw. As of August 2006, Roy Clark has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry for 19 years.
