Ronnie McDowell from Portland, Tennessee, came out of nowhere in the late ‘70s. Following the death of Elvis Presley, Ronnie McDowell released his tribute "The King Is Gone" through Scorpion. Soon enough, the song was getting time on the radio on both country and pop stations. The single would go on to sell 5 million copies around the world.

Ronnie McDowell then had a second hit single for Scorpion with "I Love You, I Love You, I Love You." He was then signed by Epic Records in 1979. Between 1979 and 1986, Ronnie McDowell had a string of hit singles and albums. All but one release was a Top 10 hit. In order to support each release, Ronnie McDowell would tour constantly.

He moved to Curb Records in 1986, and is still on that label today. Ronnie McDowell has teamed up with the likes of Conway Twitty and Jerry Lee Lewis and toured with Twitty, Tammy Wynette, and Loretta Lynn.

Ronnie McDowell spends time touring with his band the Rhythm Kings and Elvis Presley's original sidemen Scotty Moore and D.J. Fontana. In 2002, Ronnie McDowell released Ronnie McDowell with Bill Pinkney's Original Drifters. His most recent release was 2006's At Church Street Station. All together, Ronnie McDowell has released more than two dozen albums.
