RBD Information

The Mexican pop group RBD grew from the telenovela Rebelde in 2004. Known throughout the Latin American culture, RBD has released albums in Spanish and Portuguese and an English speaking album is in the works. RBD has performed medleys of pop and rock from the ‘80s as well as original songs.

Six cast members from Rebelde, three female and three male, make up RBD. Unlike the uniform-clad high school characters they play on television, the group RBD sets fashion trends dressing in fun, slightly revealing clothing. The three male members often paint on face or body tattoos. RBD members include Alfonso Herrera, Anahí, Christian Chávez, Christopher Uckermann, Dulce María, and Maite Perroni.

The RBD debut album, Rebelde, was an enormous success. It was followed by Live in Hollywood and RBD's Nuestro Amor in 2005, which sold more than 127,000 in its first seven hours of release eventually going gold with more than 500,000 in Mexico alone. RBD has a strong teenage following and a significant adult audience as well. The RBD concert tickets in Mexico were one of the top five fastest selling tours in Mexican history. A larger crowd than expected caused a number of police interventions, cancelled appearances, and three deaths at RBD gatherings. The enormous popularity of RBD continues in Brazil and the U.S. RBD plans to conquer the U.S. in 2006 with a full blown tour.
