Boston-based Powerman 5000 formed in 1989 by Spider One, whose real name in Michael Cummings and is the younger brother of Rob Zombie. Spider One began the band by himself when he recorded "Much Evil" with producer Lamar Lowder. He formed the band Powerman 5000 in 1991 with Adam Williams, Dorian Heartstrong, Allen Pahanish, and Jordan Cohen. Powerman 5000 released their first two albums, True Force and The Blood Splat Rating System in 1994 and 1995, respectively.
That lineup lasted until 1998, when Jordan Cohen left and Mike Tempesta joined the band. Powerman 5000 got their big break in 1999 with their release of Tonight the Stars Revolt!, which contained the hit singles "When Stars Collide," "Nobody's Real," and "Supernova Goes Pop." The release would sell over a million copies. In 2002, the band lost Hearstrong and Pahanish but gained Siggy Sjursen and Adrian Ost.
The release of Transform came in 2003 as a different sound than their previous releases. Spider One formed his own label in 2005 and Powerman 5000 released The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, an album of rarities and new music. Powerman 5000 most recently released Destroy What You Enjoy in 2006. The current Powerman 5000 lineup consists of Spider One, Sjursen, Ost, Terry Corso, and Johnny Heatley.
