Pink Martini Information

>p>Pink Martini hails from Portland, Oregon. Formed in 1994, the 10-member band brought together by classically trained pianist Thomas M. Lauderdale. In the beginning, Pink Martini performed at political fundraisers for civil rights, affordable housing, clean water, and public broadcasting. Pink Martini's debut Sympathique came out in 1997; the band toured Europe a year later. Their follow up album didn't come until 2004. Hang On Little Tomato is an album full of original works of Lauderdale and singer China Forbes (Sympathique was mostly covers).

Current members include Forbes and Lauderdale; trombonist Robert Taylor; trumpeter Gavin Bondy; violinist Paloma Griffin; percussionists Brian Davis, Timothy Nishimoto and Derek Rieth; drummer Martin Zarzar; and bassist Phil Baker. Cellists Pansy Chang, Claude Giron, Brant Taylor, guitarist Dan Faehnle and violinist Nicholas Crosa often appear with Pink Martini in concert and on tour.
