Panic! At the Disco Information

Panic! at the Disco, the pop punk/electronica band from Las Vegas was started by high school friends. Ryan Ross on guitar and Spencer Smith on drums formed Panic! at the Disco doing covers and then brought in classmates Brent Wilson on bass and Brendon Urie on vocals and guitar. The band left comments through LiveJournal to Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy to try to get their music heard. Panic! at the Disco linked him to their web site. Wentz was so impressed that he drove to Las Vegas to meet them. As a result, Fueled by Ramen Records signed the high schoolers.

They built a following online and got some good press and the Panic! at the Disco debut album entered the Billboard charts at No. 112. In September 2005 they started their first North American tour, supporting Acceptance, Hellogoodbye and The Academy Is... Fighting the mainstream label Panic! at the Disco made a video and then apologized for airing it on MTV's heavily criticized TRL (Total Request Live). Any press is good press and the incident boosted sales for Panic! at the Disco.

By June 2006 Panic! at the Disco led their own tour supported by Dresden Dolls and Hush Sound. Many of the Panic! at the Disco concerts sell out.
