Southern rockers Molly Hatchet formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1975. While the band started out with Dave Hlubek, Steve Holland, and Duane Roland, bassist Banner Thomas, and drummer Bruce Crump, they went through a variety of lineup changes throughout the years.
The first Molly Hatchet album was their self-titled debut in 1978. A year later, the band released Flirtin' With Disaster. The song of the same name would come to be one of their most popular songs. Brown would leave Molly Hatchet in 1980 and was replaced by Jimmy Farrar. Farrar would leave after Molly Hatchet recorded Beatin' the Odds in 1980 and Take No Prisoners in 1981. Brown would return to Molly Hatchet in 1982; Holland would leave the band in 1983 and was replaced by John Galvin.
Hlubek would leave Molly Hatchet in 1985; he was replaced by Bobby Ingram. Even with the lineup changes, Molly Hatchet continued to released albums and tour. Molly Hatchet released their Greatest Hits in 1991.
Brown left the band in 1996 due to a heart attack and was replaced by Phil McCormack. As of this point, Molly Hatchet members were: McCormack, Ingram, Bryan Bassett, Galvin, bassist Andy McKinney, and Mac Crawford.
Molly Hatchet released Silent Reign of Horses in 1998. Two years later they released The Kingdom of XII. Locked and Loaded and Warriors of the Rainbow Bridge were released in 2003 and 2005, respectively. Hlubek rejoined Molly Hatchet in 2005 as the only member of the band at that time that was one of the original members.
Brown died in March 2005 at the age of 53. After spending four weeks in the hospital, he was home for less than an hour before his death from complications or pneumonia. The last time Brown was on stage with Molly Hatchet was for the Jammin' for DJB" benefit concert in 1998.
In June 2006, also at the age of 53, Roland died of natural causes.
Molly Hatchet tours with a lineup of lead guitarist Ingram, lead vocalist McCormack, guitarist Hlubek, keyboardist Galvin, bassist Tim Lindsey, and drummer Shawn Beamer.© 2001-2009 BuySellTix.com, All Rights Reserved.
