Mindy Smith Information

Mindy Smith was born and raised in Long Island, New York, until she moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, with her father after the death of her mother in 1991. She would then move to Nashville in 1998, and she began working on her songwriting, singing, and guitar playing skills at various open mic nights.

She would win the Tin Pan South writers contest in 2000, which lead to a publishing deal with Big Yellow Dog Music. Mindy Smith would appear on the Dolly Parton tribute album Just Because I'm a Woman: The Songs of Dolly Parton with her rendition of "Jolene." Mindy Smith debuted her own album in 2004. She wrote or co-wrote all but one of the songs on the 12-track One Moment More.
