Matt Costa Information

Matt Costa was born June 16, 1982. The Huntington Beach, California-based singer/songwriter has three independent releases: a self-titled five-song EP from 2003, full-length Songs We Sing from 2005 (re-released in 2006), and the six-song EP The Elasmasaurus EP, also in 2005.

When he was 12 years old, Matt Costa received his first guitar but would abandon it for the skateboard. Eventually Matt Costa would become so good at skateboarding he almost turned pro. However, a skateboarding accident shattered his leg and required 18 months of recovery and rehabilitation. He then turned back to the guitar and began recording his songs on a mini tape recorder.

In 2003, one of Matt Costa's demos was circling among his friends and acquaintances, and it found its way into the hands of Tom Dumont, drummer for No Doubt. Dumont offered Matt Costa the use of his studio, which led to the self-titled five-song EP release in 2003. The next release was 2005's full-length Songs We Sing.

During the summer of 2005, Matt Costa opened for Jack Johnson. Matt Costa would release The Elasmasaurus EP I??? 2006. Matt Costa spent 2006 on tour with Jack Johnson in Europe and on his own headlining tour.
