Martina McBride was born in Sharon, Kansas, and was introduced to country music by her father. At the time her father was involved with a band called the Schifters, who held weekly rehearsals at the McBride house. When Martina McBride was as young as seven, she joined the group. By the time she was a teenager, Martina McBride was already singing and playing keyboard with the band. Soon enough, the band featured only the McBrides, but Martina McBride would later move on to bigger and better things.
Following her high school graduation (her graduating class was only nine kids all together), Martina McBride floated from band to band, including a Pat Benatar cover band. She married John McBride in 1988 and moved to Nashville two years later. By 1992, Martina McBride had released her debut album, The Time Has Come. One year later, Martina McBride released The Way That I Am, which featured her first hit single "My Baby Loves Me."

Four singles from that release hit No. 1 or No. 2 on the country charts. Emotion was released in 1999 and featured the single "This One's for the Girls," which became the theme song for the 2005 NCAA Women's Basketball championship tournament.
By 2005, Martina McBride had earned herself a reputation as the "Celine Dion of country music" due to her strong and pure soprano voice. Even other musicians were blown away by the powerful ballads of Martina McBride. In 2005, Martina McBride released Timeless, a collection of 18 classic country songs. Timeless hit No. 1 on the charts. Martina McBride is also a four-time Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year, a three-time Academy of Country Music Female Vocalist of the Year winner, and a Grammy Award winner.
