Mannheim Steamroller Information

Mannheim Steamroller is an 18th century classical rock band that was founded by Chip Davis. Known for their Christmas-style music, Mannheim Steamroller's albums have been predominately Christmas-themed. Their first release, Fresh Aire, came out in 1975. They were followed by Fresh Aire II and Fresh Aire III in 1977 and 1979, respectively.

Although Mannheim Steamroller began as only Davis, the band would soon grow to include drummer Jackson Berkey and bassist Eric Hansen. Almeda Berkey, Jackson's wife, would occasionally join the band on stage as a keyboardist. Mannheim Steamroller would find their fame in 1984 with the release of Manheim Steamroller Christmas. That release was followed by A Fresh Aire Christmas in 1988 and Christmas in the Aire in 1995. By that time, Mannheim Steamroller was one of the most requested Christmas music artists of all time. Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Live was released in 1997 and Christmas Extraordinaire in 2001.

One more Christmas album later, and Mannheim Steamroller released Halloween and American Spirit in 2003. Their most recent Christmas release was 2004's Christmas Celebration. The current line up of Mannheim Steamroller includes the Berkeys, Davis, percussionist Roxanne Layton, guitarist/bassist Ron Cooley, Arnie Roth on strings, and Chuck Pennington as the orchestra conductor.
