Mae (Multisensory Aesthetic Experience) was formed in Norfolk, Virginia in 2001. Jacob Marshal and Dave Elkins came together to record their first song, "Embers and Envelopes." Mae would eventually add Zach Gehring, Rob Sweltzer, and Mark Padgett to their line up.
Mae would tour throughout 2005 in support of their release The Everglow. The Everglow was re-released in 2006, complete with three new songs and a two-hour DVD. Mae is sometimes referred to as a Christian rock band.
