Lyle Lovett Information

Lyle Lovett was born November 1, 1957 in Harris County, Texas. After attending Texas A&M University for German and journalism, Lyle Lovett was signed with RCA Records in 1986 and soon after released his self-titled debut album.

His follow-up, Pontiac, was released in 1988, and Lyle Lovett and His Large Band was released in 1989. Lyle Lovett released an album every two years from March 1992 until September 1998, and then released one album a year from June 1999 until February 2003. His most recent release, My Baby Don't Tolerate, was released in 2003.

Lyle Lovett's music is typical of that of the country genre, but his music can incorporate folk, swing, blues, jazz, and gospel at times. Throughout his career, Lyle Lovett has won four Grammy Awards for Best Country Album, Best Country Duo/Group with Vocal, Best Pop Vocal Collaboration, and Best Country Male Vocal.

In his personal life, Lyle Lovett married actress Julia Roberts in 1993, but the marriage lasted less than two years. He was awarded with an Esky for Surest Thing in Esquire's 2006 Esky Music Awards in the April issue.
