Los Angeles Philharmonic Information

The Los Angeles Philharmonic was formed in 1919 and has been considered to be Southern California's leading performing arts institution ever since. The current leader of the Los Angeles Philharmonic is Esa-Pekka Salonen, who began his tenure in 1992. Salonen oversees 94 musicians. Auditions for the orchestra are held in the fall and dates depend on the instrument.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic spends 30 weeks at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and 12 weeks at the Hollywood Bowl. While over 1 million Californians experience the Los Angeles Philharmonic each year, the Los Angeles Philharmonic also takes the time to tour.
