Originally called Tennessee due to their origin in the state, Lonestar later changed their name. While they formed in Tennessee, lead singer Richie McDonald, guitarist Michael Britt, drummer Keech Rainwater, and keyboardist Dean Sams all hail from Texas.

In 1993, Lonestar played their first concert in Nashville at the Backstage Pass. While performing, they were lucky enough to catch the attention of a booking agent who was attending the show. The booking agent decided to add Lonestar to his lineup, and within the next two years they played almost 500 shows. In 1994, Lonestar landed a contract with BNA Records. Lonestar released their self-titled debut the next year, and the Top 10 hit "Tequila Talkin'" was the first hit for Lonestar.

Crazy Nights was released in 1997, and two years later Lonestar released Lonely Grill. Lonely Grill featured the single "Amazed," which spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard country chart and eventually found its way onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Since then, Lonestar has had a string of No. 1 hits off of subsequent releases. "Come Cryin' to Me" (1997); "Smile" and What About Now" (2000); "Tell Her" and "I'm Already There" (2001); "My Front Porch Lookin' In" (2003) and "Mr. Mom" (2004) are the other No. 1 hits from Lonestar. All together, Lonestar has released eight albums in 10 years, their most recent, Coming Home, in September 2005. Lonestar has been on the road for over a dozen years and is as hot ticket as ever.
